Cat Poop Coffee (originally from 1/28/08)

with one comment

Really?  Yeah, really.  It seems some of the most expensive and sought after coffee in the world is now available from Zeke’s coffee in Baltimore.  I was there working on an unrelated story for Urbanite, and I realized I had read an article in the Sun about the exotic coffee (article here)  To be straight with you, the coffee shot above is not of the Kopi Luwak beans (way to expensive to waste on photography.)  I also shot at several places for Baltimore magazine.  As to be expected December and January have been slow.  I try not to dwell on that as it can be too depressing.  Hey that’s what coffee is for right?  Things are picking up, I’ve got some bids out and a couple of new clients are coming through the doors so look here next month for new images.

Waverly Market for Urbanite (originally from 7/17/07)

without comments

This weekend I worked on a story for Urbanite Magazine and travelled with writer Mary Zajac and chef Spike Gjerde (along with Spike’s kids) to the Waverly market in Baltimore. The Waverly market is insane, everything from produce to meat, ice cream and even a 50 pound block of shea butter.  Following the market trip we went to Spike’s home and he and his wife Amy (also a chef) prepared numerous dishes.  There was a marinated skirt steak, corn soup with hot peppers, a cucumber, tomato and miso salad, roasted potatoes, green beans and of course a dessert.  Look for the story in the September issue.  BTW, Spike is in the process of opening a new restaurant called Woodberry Kitchen.
